Confirmed: AMC Adapting Controversial Preacher Comic Book Series; Seth Rogen to Serve as EP

Preacher TV SeriesIt’s official: AMC is developing a drama-series adaptation of Preacher, the DC/Vertigo comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will serve as EPs on the project, which has been eyed multiple times in the past for small- and big-screen adaptations, including at HBO, which ultimately passed on the project in 2008 because, according to screenwriter Mark Steven Johnson, “it was just too dark and too violent and too controversial.”

“We’ve tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we’re so psyched AMC is finally letting us,” said Rogen and Goldberg in a statement. “It is our favorite comic of all time, and we’re going to do everything we can to do it right. Humperdoo!”
