– Series 3 of Sherlock appears finally to be getting under way, with Jeremy Lovering announced as director of the first instalment. Qualifications for the job? Well he directed a few episodes of Spooks and was second-unit director on Hot Fuzz. Here’s hoping he can resurrect the dead with a bit more flair.

– Sky have commissioned a new comedy from the makers of The Thick of It. Created and written by the delicious team of Simon Blackwell (Veep, In the Loop) and Chris Addison (The Thick Of It, Mock The Week), Trying Again is a sitcom about what happens after the affair. Cast is yet to be announced, but here’s hoping there’s a part for Peter Capaldi!

– The CW have dredged up 1970s English TV show The Tomorrow People for a remake. The CW have clearly realised they have a solid  chance of cornering the future-dystopia-Hunger Games-demographic and are ordering pilots to that effect left right and centreThe Tomorrow People follows several youngsters from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, all possessing special powers including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Which also sounds a wee bit like a more sci-fi version of another (cancelled) CW show The Secret Circle…
