ITV wants more Jeremy Piven

United Kingdom, are you ready for a little more Jeremy Piven.

ITV has greenlit a second season of Piven’s period drama, Mr. Selfridge, saying that the series good ratings influenced their decision. In the series, Piven plays American entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge.

The series, which premiered last month, had hit a peak of 9.4 million viewers, which makes it the most watched ITV since Scott and Bailey in May of 2011. Mr. Selfridge averages 8.5 million consolidated viewers each episode now. Not too shabby.

Ten episodes have been ordered for the second season, which is produced in-house at ITV Studios.

“Set in 1914 in the run up to the Great War, Harry Selfridge has made his mark and established his iconic store, bringing life to the dead end of Oxford Street and revolutionizing shopping in London,” ITV said in a press release. “Harry’s pioneering ideas and spectacular events have made Selfridge’s a thriving success. However, the onset of war, set to be the greatest and most devastating in history, touches the lives of everyone in the store.”

The second season will begin shooting in April in the London area and in Kent. The season will premiere on the network sometime in 2014.

Good for Piven. It seemed for a while that he would be playing Ari Gold for the rest of his life.
